Happy 1st Birthday!

Its hard to believe, but my baby girl is a year old. She started off her birthday with a fun trip to the Children's Museum. Daddy, Gran, and Grandpa came along for the fun. We had never been before, and there was so much to see and do in the Tiny Tots area. Definitely a place we'll visit again.  She played ball with Daddy, smiled at herself in all the mirrors, slid down the slide, crawled up soft stairs, played with all the toys, walked around, and more!

Anybody home?

After the museum, we went back home to open presents and Grandma and Grandpa were there to help.  Mommy and Daddy got Clara a water table.  As much as she loves playing in the dogs' water bowl, we knew it would be a hit.  She also got a tricycle from Gran and Grandpa, a sleeping bag and clothes from Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Michelle, Uncle Michael, Katherine and Katelyn spoiled her with a toy camera, clock and singing duck, Aunt Dete gave her the cutest ladybug dress and towel set, and Grandmother and Granddaddy made her a beautiful ladybug quilt.  After all the presents, we were off to the pool on her new tricycle.  Poor thing was so tired, she fell asleep on the ride to the pool... on her tricycle.  Thank goodness for the safety belt!

On Saturday, we threw a small birthday party for Clara with her friends, Jackson and Maya, and some of our friends.  I made her a ladybug cake and lots of cupcakes, and Phillip grilled lunch for everyone.  With her history of eating non-pureed food, I didn't have high hopes of her diving into the cake, but she loved feeding it to her daddy.  Like her Mommy and Grandpa, she does love ice-cream... chocolate and vanilla.  She was spoiled with presents, a new walker from Bekah, Lennea, and Jackson, a singing dog from Jonathan and Lynette, toy keys, snaptogether ladybugs, and a dress from Amber and Jeremiah, a toy bus from Michelle, Mohan, and Maya, a dress and soft teddy bear from Kim and Sam, a cute outfit from Cesar and Betty, and gift cards to buy something fun from Keith and Leon.  The highlight was a special concert from Dewey Wayne.  He sang her happy birthday and her favorite Johnny Cash song, Ring of Fire.  She danced the whole time!

 Many thanks to all those who came to celebrate Clara's big day.  She is a lucky girl! We had a great time, and thank you all for the presents you got her.  We have a lot more to play with now...
