Auburn - 2011 National Champions!

What a weekend!  We went to the National Championship in Glendale, Arizona.  The undefeated Auburn Tigers were playing the Oregon Ducks on January 10 for all the glory.  We flew out on Saturday, and Clara got her first taste of flying First Class.  We could get used to that.  She had a perfect spot on the armrest between our seats, and the stewardess spoiled her with apple juice.

On Sunday, we went to the Auburn pep rally.  There were at least 50,000 Auburn fans getting fired up for the big game.  We saw Uncle Mike, Aunt Michelle, and some other friends.  We taught Clara to say touchdown and put her arms up.  Everybody loved it!

50,000 Auburn fans... gotta love it
Gran and Grandpa also came to Arizona.  They arrived on Sunday, and we had a nice dinner in downtown Scottsdale.  We saw the end of the Oregon pep rally, and they definitely brought a lot of fans too.  Clara even impressed their fans by telling them the sound a duck makes... quack quack quack

On Game Day, Clara stayed at the hotel with Gran while the rest of us went to cheer Auburn to victory.

The game was awesome, definitely a defensive struggle.  Oregon had some successful trick plays, but Auburn just played hard, straight football and won in the last few seconds.  We cheered until we were hoarse and stood the whole game. There were definitely more Auburn fans there, but the Oregon fans we met were all very nice, mutual respect and a great game.  It was one of the best days of our life!... of course after our wedding, Clara's birth, etc... but definitely up on the list!
