Vacation in California (part 2)

Enjoying the views in Yosemite!

On Wednesday, we left San Francisco for Yosemite National Park. We stayed in Oakhurst and hiked the first day in south Yosemite, near Wawona. The first hike was categorized as 'moderate to strenuous' to Chinuala Falls. It took about three hours to get to the falls. Then we had a picnic lunch and enjoyed the view before hiking back down.

Clara loved being close to her daddy, riding in the backpack carrier. He talked and sang to her on the hikes. She also played with her morraco, which scared us a few times thinking it was a rattle snake! The first hike was six hours long, and she did great. She was even able to take a few naps when she got tired.

On Friday, we met a good friend of mine, Katy, her husband, Chris, and some of their friends to hike near Yosemite Valley. I've known Katy forever. She also grew up in Florence but recently moved to Bishop (east side of Yosemite) to be a physical therapist. She had never met Clara, so I'm glad we were able to get together. Phillip chose the hike, another 'moderate to strenuous' trail to see two waterfalls. It was beautiful, but this time I never felt the 'moderate' part of the trail!

It was a great vacation! Wish we could have explored Yosemite more, so we'll have to go back one day.
