Vacation in California (part 1)

We went to sunny California for the first half of July. The main reason for the trip was Jeremiah and Amber's wedding but decided to stay longer and see the sights. We were lucky my Aunt Connie came up from San Diego and babysat Clara while we went to the wedding at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, California. It was a beautiful wedding, great food and drink, and the coolest part was the reception's candy bar.


After the wedding festivities, we spent a day with Aunt Connie and cousin David sightseeing in Burlingame. We walked around downtown, shopped, ate lunch, watched some World Cup soccer, and had a great time with family. Clara's got a green moraca, loves it and still won't put it down. Then off to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.








On July 4, we spent most of the day walking around... up and down hills. HUGE HILLS! They should really mark those things on a map. We saw Alamo Square with the houses from Full House, Coit Tower, the Fillamore Jazz festival, Lombard Street (crookedest street in US), and more. The city firework show was in the park next to our hotel, but we were so tired we just listened to them and went to bed early.



I'm not sure who was more tired, Phillip or Clara. Makes me tired just looking at those hills!






Over the next few days, we went on a Bay Quackers tour, Alacatraz tour, biked the Golden Gate bridge (twice), walked the Embarcado Promenade and saw the sight including the Ferry Building and Pier 39 with all the sea lions, ate Clam Chowder (well, you know I didn't but Phillip loved it), and rode a trolley car. Clara was such a great traveler. I was surprised how much we were able to do with her riding along. She managed a good nap every day in either the baby carrier or the stroller.





Our last night in San Francisco was spent with my cousin David and his fiance Megan who's San Diego wedding we'll be attending in late August! We had delicious ice-cream at Ghiradellis and spent another $30 on chocolate. Yes, it was that good. After San Francisco it was off to Yosemite for hiking adventures. More on this part of the vacation later...




One last note, we know everyone thinks they have the cutest baby, and Phillip and I are no exception. But on this trip, one lady thought Clara was so cute in her 4th of July outfit that she asked to have a picture made with her. Maybe we aren't just biased.... =)
