On Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 6:54 pm, we welcomed Baby Trey to our family. His full name is Phillip Guy Hamilton III, but we call him Trey for short. He weighed 7 pounds and 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. Clara was so excited to meet him. We talked about him so much being in Mommy's tummy and wondered if she really understood what was about to happen. We were surprised how easily she accepted him. She loves to sing to him and love on him. Every morning when she wakes up she asks us to put Trey on the pillow next to her, and then she'll cover him up with her blanket and cuddle him.

Its hard to believe Trey is already 2.5 months old. He has gained four pounds and three inches. When we brought him home, we didn't realize how big Clara was, especially compared to little baby hands. He is doing his best to get as big as she is. He spends more time in his car seat carrier than Clara did, but he is a good sport and doesn't complain too much about being dragged place to place. We took him to Dallas for Easter and his first road trip. He did great and slept most of the way. He sleeps a good 5-6 hour stretch at night, and we will probably move him into his room with Clara next month. I finally finished decorating it and will post some pictures soon. I can easily remember the first day he really started smiling at us.. it was on Grandpa's birthday, March 17. He also coos and talks more and more every day. Can't wait to figure out what all the noises mean.
We are amazed weekly by Clara. She learns so much every day, and I love to sit and listen to her talk. She sings so many different songs, including the Auburn Fight Song and the ABCs. She is learning to count to 20 and can tell you how many items are in a collection. She identifies shapes like circle, heart, crescent, square, and octagon (will even say 'has 8 sides'). She loves to read and has started memorizing books and will 'read' them back to you. Her favorite are the Biscuit stories. Her school is teaching her to draw and identify letters and can point out her name. Letters H, X, O, and T are her favorites right now. She has an Elmo ABC app on her iPad and is another useful tool in teaching her to write the letters. She has two favorite colors, purple and pink. We try to tell her its orange and blue, but she knows what she likes. She also knows what she'll eat and not eat.... still struggling with her pickiness. We hear 'I don't like it' at least once a day, but she does love fruit, bread, and dairy products. She just isn't a fan of meat and vegetables. Maybe if I coat them in chocolate, she'll eat them. Ha!
Having a great time with our children and looking forward to more wonderful memories...
